William Houstoun
Farmer and founding member of EARA
William Houstoun has been based on his family’s farms in Glenisla and Glenshee in the hills of Scotland all of his life. He has worked on farms, in food businesses and as a consultant around the world in jobs ranging from managing 100,000 hectare ranches in Venezuela to managing a 500 hectare soft fruit co-operative in Scotland and as a consultant; one role was managing a project regenerating the rural economy of the Lake District National Park in England following the 2001 Foot and Mouth Disease outbreak.
For the last 4 years he has been an Accredited Professional Educator with the Savory Institute and is one of the Founding Farmers and member of the steering committee of the European Alliance for Regenerative Agriculture.
