Deputy Director, Centre of Estonian Rural Research and Knowledge
Marko Kass serves as the Deputy Director of the Science Department at the Centre of Estonian Rural Research and Knowledge. With approximately 20 years of experience in the field of science, he has undertaken several internships at Nordic universities and in Scotland. His research focuses on exploring the utilization of by-products in industries such as the food industry and fruit cultivation, as well as aspects related to feed quality. In recent years, his research has shifted towards investigating the relationships between animal welfare, behavior, productivity, and health.
Marko has previously lectured to students in animal husbandry, agronomy, and veterinary sciences, and in recent years, he has expanded his teaching activities internationally. Since 2019, he has held the position of guest professor in animal welfare at the Ecole d’Ingénieurs de PURPAN at the University of France.
It is important for him to collaborate closely with practitioners, and he initiated the establishment of a Scientific Advisory Board at the Estonian Chamber of Agriculture and Commerce to promote collaboration between scientists and the industry.
