Welcome to the 4th edition of the Northern Roots Forum.
In January 2026, our third edition brought speakers from across Europe to Tallinn to dig into plant health, seeding and multi-cropping, and planned grazing.
For 2027, we’re going one layer deeper. Our mission has always been an agriculture that regenerates the environment and climate while producing nutrient-dense food and thriving farm businesses. This year’s programme is built around six themes that put that mission into practice, from the living soil beneath our feet to the value that reaches the farm’s bottom line.
As always, Northern Roots is a meeting place for the Baltic and Nordic regions: practical lectures, hands-on workshops and honest conversations between farmers, scientists, advisors and everyone working towards a new generation of agriculture.

We’re happy to announce that Soil Talks will return with us here in Tallinn, at the Northern Roots Forum — and we warmly invite you to join this special dinner event.
For those who work with land, it’s no secret: healthy soil is the starting point of everything. It shapes yield stability, nutrient availability, resilience to stress, and the overall performance of our fields. But soil also reaches far beyond farming — it influences the flavour and quality of food, human health, cultural traditions, and the long-term wellbeing of our landscapes.
Soil Talks brings these connections to the table, opening a wider conversation about why soil matters to all of us — growers, chefs, scientists, and communities alike
We will have a professional guide taking you to a 1.5h-2h Old Town tour. The timing of the tour will be communicated soon. The guide waits for you in front of the Tallink Spa & Conference hotel. Participation is free for the forum guests. Pre registration is mandatory and you can sign up for the tour here.
Northern Roots is all about creating connections and exchanging thoughts and ideas. On the evening of the 20th there is the opportunity for all participants to stay at the venue, Kultuurikatel, until 19:00 to eat, drink and mingle.
