Tanel Vahter
Soil Scientist
Tanel works at the intersection of agriculture and the environment, exploring how scientific research and on-farm experience can be translated into practical improvements for soil biota and land management. His work focuses on understanding soil life as part of whole farming systems and on turning complex data into insights that are useful at field level.
As a researcher at the University of Helsinki and the University of Tartu, he collaborates closely with farmers, advisors, and other practitioners. Together, they work on approaches that support resilient, productive farming systems and clearer, evidence-based decision-making. Tanel’s research bridges ecology and agronomy, with the aim of strengthening soil life while supporting viable, real-world land management choices.
