Peter Michel Heilmann

Regenerative finance pioneer

Dutch-born Peter Michel Heilmann is an international pioneer of regenerative finance and founder of the 1000 Year Vision movement. With over 30 years of experience catalysing systemic change across Europe, Africa, and beyond, his work connects finance, land stewardship, and long-term responsibility for people and planet.

He is co-author of seven books, including The Future of Responsible Investing (2010), and a leading advocate for shifting from ROI (Return on Investment) to ROWE — Return on Wealth for Earth. His focus is on developing long-term, regenerative approaches to financing that support stewardship across generations.

Together with his family, Peter Michel guides farmers and land stewards worldwide through Follow the Signs, a regenerative journey exploring the future of food and farming. He is a member of the European AgriFood Co-Funding Alliance and works with family offices, impact investors, and wealth holders to direct patient, catalytic capital into initiatives that help land, communities, and regions thrive for the next 40 generations.
