Bob Klein Lankhorst

Soil Specialist, Innovator & Co-Founder of Antonie (NL)

Bob Klein Lankhorst is a pioneering soil specialist and the Co-Founder & Chief Soil Officer of Antonie, where AI-driven soil intelligence is being developed. Combining deep expertise in soil science, functional biodiversity, and ecosystem services, he is redefining how soil health is measured, monitored, and understood worldwide.

As an entrepreneur and as convenor of European standardisation body CEN/TC 444*/WG8 “Assessment”, Bob plays an active role in shaping new national and international guidelines for soil health assessment. His work at Antonie focuses on building the world’s most advanced AI-powered soil biodiversity insights, with that empowering farmers, researchers, and landowners with precise, data-driven understanding of their soils.

Bob’s mission is clear: to establish Antonie as the global standard for measuring functional biodiversity and ecosystem services. Through this work, he aims to support better soil-health decisions, restore biodiversity, and contribute to improved human and environmental well-being on Earth.

Bob began his professional journey in soils with his company Bodemliefde (in Dutch: “for the love of soil”). What started as a soil consultancy has since evolved into a thriving community-supported agriculture (CSA) non-chemical garden, reflecting his lifelong commitment to living soils and sustainable land stewardship.

The internal slogan of Antonie is: Nematodes First!
